James is a Mulurean and belongs to a tribe known as Berawan. Since the 1800s, his people have been residing in Mulu and along the Tutoh river where their longhouse name Long Terawan stands. In the past, the resident farmed and was self-sufficient. The knowledge of sustainable living and living off-grid (without electricity) and rice winemaking was passed on from generation to generation.
Fast forward to the 21st century, I and James live harmoniously with nature and its environment. There are endless benefits of living off-grid such as getting back to our roots, a healthier lifestyle, less impact on the planet and etc. But the biggest benefit of living off-grid allows us to teach a new(old) way of living that everyone should know. Mulu Village provides you with back to a basic lifestyle experience. It is also proven that an outing in nature and just being here lift the mood and resetting our brain for a happier and positive you.
So, visit us as a tourist and leave as a friend, we are excited to have you with us for a memorable Mulu experience!
